TO EXTEND OUR MARKETS.

N.Z. AND EOTJBAIX EXHIBITION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, January 9. M.. Lucien Nopenaire, representative of tho textile exhibition which will be held at Eoubaix in Northern France, has arrived ia Christchurch to make arrangements for exhibits in the New Zealand pavilion. , To-day he saw the manager of the Kaiapoi Woollen Company and several local commercial men, and this evening ho will havo. an interview with the Hon. T. Mackenzie, Minister for Agriculture, in regard to a national New Zealand display. It is really , owing to Mr. Mackenzie's enterprise and enthusiasm that New Zealand will be represented at the exhibition. When M. Nopenaire was in this Dominion last' year .he mentioned the exhibition to Mr. Mackenzie, who said at once ..that New Zealand ought to havo a representative display. The suggestion was adopted with the result that this Dominion, has been given a pavilion in a central and commanding site, close to the most important thoroughfares, along which many thousands of people will pass. Wool will bo the principal article oil view at the exhibition, but it will not by any means be the only one. New Zealand will nlso send samples of dressed flax, frozen meal', greenstone, kauri gum, , grain, and other produce. M. Nopenairo thinks that it will be a good opportunity for anyone who makes New Zealand wine to show what can be done in that direction, as the vintage in France last summer was a failure. As to agricultural produce lie points out' that Roubaix is close to the Belgian frontier and that the exhibition will be visited by large numbers of farmers front Belgium, and other countries in that part of Europe. Amongst private individuals and companies who have taken space in the New Zealand pavilion is the New Zealand Shipping Company, which will have a model cabin, and a miniature steamer, showing the methods of loadin" frozen ment. It is hoped that nrr.wol ments will be made, with Maggie Papakura and her company of Maoris to attend the exhibition and give performances. I
