AUSTRALIA'S NAVY.
TWO THOUSAND MEN NEEDED. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright. (Rec. January 7, 0.40 a.m.) Melbourne, January 6. Two thousand three hundred and sixty-one officers and men will be required to man the new Commonwealth Fleet unit.
At present there are '250 officers and men in the permanent naval force. In Ootober there were also 716 men serving in the Australian. Squadron.
Early action will be taken to establish training schools. . ,
THE NAVAL COLLEGE. Sydney, January '6. Admiral Sir R. Henderson,- who is inspecting the defences of Australia with the view of reporting thereon to the Commonwealth Government, favours the establishment of a Commonwealth Navai College at Middle Head.
