THE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNEY. The New Zealand cham]fianship chesi tournament is ,to be held at - Timaru, commencing on Monday nest. It is the first occasion that the championship has been-held in that town. The competitors ■ are from near and , far—as . far, for example, as Norfolk Island, which is to be represented by.the Rev. S. E. .Pox, formerly a resident of Napier, and abrother of the Rev.'B. Fox, of Tinwald., Auckland will be represented by Messrs, A. W. 0. Dayies (who wljn the championship on two occasions as a Wellington, representative), and Mr. J, C. Grierson (who was champion eight years . ago)i Wellington will be represented by Messrs, It. J. Barnes, W. By and John Mason,' and Edwin Hicks; westport by Mr. A. W. Gyles (formerly of Wellington); I Timaru by Messrs. T. 0. Mara and A, Beck; and Dunedin by Mr. J.. Dunlop.
