ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL.
NEGOTIATIONS WITH GAS COMPANY. ( A special meeting of\ the : Onslow Borough Council was held last evening, Councillor B. Lynneber'g presiding. There '.vero also present:—Councillors W. H. Bowden, G. W. Darvall, I>. A. Bannister, C. Aplin, jun., E.- S. Stafford, A. Ferguson, W. R. Pliramer, and E. Kieran.
The following registration fees for dogs were decided on:—Ordinary dogs, ss. each; sheep and cattle dogs, 2s. 6d. each. .Mr. C. Gardiner was appointed collector of the dog tax. \ Mr. A. W. Newton's appointment as borough engineer was renewed for a period of four months so as. to carry the appointment on until the term of office of tho present council expires. The council resolved to tako proceedings against persons who bathe without proper costumes in'the Kaiwarra Stream.
The. council spent the greater■ part of tho evening in committee' discussing tho (ivostiou of a' gas supply with Mr. Ferguson, managing director of tlio Gas Company. In open council it was resolved"That the council make a contract with the' Gas Company in accordance with the s recommendation ,of the committee without giving public lighting if it is possible to mako a valid contract to do so; hut if it is found necessary to take public lights, the council agree to take six-lights as soon as they can be installed, with a further 24 within five years of tlie installing of the first light." "This," said tho Mayor, "is all wo can give out at present in this connection." .
