ENGINEERS' AWARD.
TO APPLY TO WHOLE OF. NEW': ZEALAND.. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) . Dunedin, December 20. ~ The Engineers' Award for Otago and Southland provides that overtime, shall .be paid for at time arid a quarter for ' the first two hours, and thereafter at ..time and a half; that the minimum wage for engineers and journeymen shall be Is. 4Jd. per hour; that'apprentices shall re--ceive ss. a week.for the first year, 10s. for the second/ 15s. for .the third, £1 for the fourth/and <£1 ss) for the fifth; that the period of.'apprenticeship be 'fire years; that improvers' be paid not less than, lid. an hour for one year after the ex- ~ piration of apprenticeship, and not less than Is. 3d. per'hour for another .yea*; that unionists be employed in preference to non-unionists, provided the unionists . arc equally qualified.. The will come into operation on January 2,-and continue until December 19, 1913. The terms of this award will apply to practically the whole of New Zealand, but a separate award will be filed in each of the centres. - • -
