PRESBYTERIAN ORPHANAGE.

NEW SITE SECURED. The committee of tho Presbyterian Orphanage and Social Service Association have lately acquired from Mr. Wm. Hurcomb a sito comprising ten acres of land, on which it is intended to erect a new orphanage to meet the increased demand which the present rented premises at Newtown are inadequate to meet. There are two cottages on the newly-acquired property, and it is proposed to utilise ono of these to have boys who are frequently reported to the association as being, owing to improper parental oversight and other causes, liable to drift into crime. These lads will be carefully trained. Those above school age will be employed at poultry-raising and other farm pursuits and finally drafted out to situations in the country. These boys will be housed in an establishment distinct from that devoted to children at the orphanage. A start has. already been made on a campaign for funds, and it is-hoped- that the project will receive the support .it merits. Donations maj; be sent to the honorary treasurer of 'the Presbyterian Orphanage Association. Mr.' W. M. Haunay, 172 The Terrace, Wellington.
