ORDERED FOR WEĹINGTON.
COMPLETE WIRELESS PLANT. On more' than one occasion since the establishment' of tho experimental wireless plant in Wellington by Mr. J. K. Logan and his expert assistants in telegraphy, it has ' been suggested that_ a wireless plant should be secured fov Wellington on account of its situation as a commercial centre, and its proximity to the busiest and perhaps the most dangerous of maritime highways in these waters—Cook Strait.
.The Government has evidently seen tha necessity for making a move, as yesterday an order was cablcd to the United Wireless Telegraph Company's representatives at San Francisco—the firm which installed ■ the plant on the Aorangi, and is fitting up ono on the Maitai—for a two kilowatt plant, similar to that on the Aorangi, which it is hoped will be shipped to Wellington by the Maitai, due to leave that port for Wellington to-day. This plant is to be installed here, probably right in the heart of the.city on the roof of the new General Post Office. The. plant ordered', is capable of ■ sending and receiving messages over 2000 miles under suitable conditions at night time, and should be a : valuable adjunct to an otherwise wellequipped port. The ■ order for the wireless plant was forwarded through Mr. A. Isbell, the United Wjreless Company's agent, who arrived -from San Francisco by the Aorangi a few days ago.
