—4- . HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. The outstanding featuro of tfio programme being submitted at His Majesiy's Theatre is tho excellence of tho dramatic studies. "Tho Virgin' of Babylon" is a splendidly-mounted dramatic film'dealing with life in ancient Babylon, and tells how two humble lovers triumph after many trials over the might of a great King. "The Oath and the Man" is a graphic story Of tho French Revolution. The handsome wife of a young peasant is lured away by an aristocrat. During the revolution the peasant has a chance to revenge himself, but he holds his hand, and giyes the nobleman a lesson in true nobility.

"Willie" io a brightly-illustrated story of a "tenderfoot's" trials out West.

Tho travel pictures screened include some really picturesque views of scenes and life in a Turkish Village, and were well ( received. "Sports in the Indian Army" is a splendidly-coloured film, showing a squad of soldiers in our Indian Army performing various exercises under arms. The comic studies are in keeping with tho general excellence of the programme. Qthcr films worthy of mention include "Basilique of St. Marc,". "Cycloue'at Iscliima," "Elusive Robber,"'.and Michael Grady." . THE. KING'S THEATRE. Tho'current programme at the King's Theatre attracted another largo audience last evening. The picture's screened cover a variety of subjects, both grave and gay, and met-with the hearty apiroval of the. audience. "Tunny Fishing, in Sicily" ' gives many interesting glimpses of this industry. "Her Mother's WcddingVGown" is a Scottish pastoral study with a very pretty setting, and "Hunting tho Hippopotamus on the Nile" enables one to follow the big game hunter oh his expedition. A ilm showing the funeral of-the lato Princ9 Francis of Teck, and another detailing tho circumstances in connection with the assassination of President Lincoln were well received. Tho comi'; studies were not neglected, and indudo some real laughter-raisers. STAR, PICTURES. . Last night the current programme at St. Thomas's Hall was screened beforo' a good house, and received well-merited ajplause. This afternoon there will be a matinee, and the programme will be ropeated for the last time to-night. A complete change of' programme is announced for Monday evening. YALDARES AND GARRISON'S ENTAINERS. This evening will see the'opening of tho vaudeville season by the above company of entertainers at tho Opera House, and, judging by the attractions to be presented, tho entertainment should bo an unqualified success. Mr. Jules Garrison and his two Roman Maids sing and dance delightfully, their' various vaudeville vagaries being a successful item on any programme. .Mr. ■ Garrison's selected recitations from Kipling's works should prove very enjoyable. Reggiardo is a juggler with a style of his own, his balancing and sword-swallowing' being a clever and novel performance. His trained poodles- represent the height of-' canine cleverness. A : daring turn-is that of the four Valdares, whose evolutions on a wheel, or. wheels are'a finished performance. Seats can be booked for to-night at the Dresden, where tho box plan is now on view. SUNDAY CONCERT.

To-morrow night at tho Town Hall tho .Wellington;. Professional Orchestra, under tho conductorship of ; Mtf Herbert Bloy, Tv-ill- give their last ponpert for tiio year.- Tho orchestra will bo.heard in items which have , been the most popular during tho last series of concerts, nmonsst which are: Overture. "Bohemian Girl," "Graceful Dance" (Henry VIII music); selections, "Faust," "Mignoii Gavotte," and' "Turkish Patrol." Miss Cecile Stephano (contralto) will sing "Abide With Mo," and Mr. J. F. Carr (tenor) "Thcro is a Green Hill." Mr. A. H. Medhurst (late of Christchurch), who is , tho possessor of a rich bass voice of good range, will also contributo items to the lengthy programme, which appears in another column. A silver coin collection will be taken at ; tho ' Tlie'cqnccrt will commence at 8.15 p.m.

ORGAN RECITAL. After a break'of. several weeks, tie series of recitals on the Town Hall organ will, be resumed to-night by, Mr.. Maughan Barnott, the- City Organist. The management. stato that the : programme is of. the usual high standard rendered by Mr. Barnett, and no doubt the regular attendants will bo pleased that this regular weekly performance of delightful organ music is being resumed. ' . ■ ' '"THE .MESSIAH." ' The Wellington Choral Society will give ,a performance of Handel's masterpiece, "The Messiah," in the Town Hall on. Friday evening next, December 10. The artists will be: Madame Wielaeri (soprano), Miss Brcnda Stock (contralto), Mr. E. J. Hill (tenor), and Mr. John Prouse. (baritone). ' ■ ' . The "box plan is at the Dresden, where 3s.and.2s. seats, may he reserved. WELLINGTON MUNICIPAL ORCHESTRA. ■ The third of the series of concerts will be.given by the Wellington Municipal Orchestra on Tuesday evening next, December 13. in the Town Hall. Tho principal items of the programmeare- the Wedding March from tho "Feramors" (Rubinstein), winch was £0 well received at the last concert, "Largo Cantabile" and "Minuatto" (sth Symphony, Haydn), the delightful preludo to Act 111-of Wagucr's opera • "Lohengrin," to be performed by tho orchestra, and two organ soli by Mr. Maughan Barnett. The plan of the reserved gallery seats is open at _.the Dresden. OPERA HOUSE. Every section of the Opera, House was crowded last evening, when the very successful season of the Fred Graham Company terminated. ■ At tho Seatoun terminus'to-morrow afternoon, the Garrison Band will give a performance, commencing at 3 o'clock. The Military Band will give a band performance at Island Bay to-morrow afternoon at 3 o'clock.
