The- southerly rail which sot'in on j Thursday afternoon will, however, re- j tard operations, l besides which farmers < are being somewhat delayed owing to '] not being able to obtain sufficient farm ( hands. :. . 1 Trout fishing has so far this season' , been very disappointing, and no Jargo bags, have been recorded. Fish, for J Bomo\reason.or other, do not appear, to be'nearly so plentiful, as in 'former'' years, and sportsmen who, are thoroughly intimate- with all our streams state that there are not nearly as many fish- to be seen as was the case a few years ago. The only stream that seems to have many fish in it is Abbott's Creek, which goes up the Rimutaka. ! Gorge, but the fish there, though plon-, tiful, are- very small.
