Chrlstchurch, December 9. What must be surely a "record" score was put up by a junior team in Thursday cricket competitions yesterday afternoon. The Australians and Lyttelton, two leading teams, were down to meet, but adverse weather conditions frightened six members of the former team, and only' five turned up.- They did fairly well in their first innings, knocking up' some 30 runs to their_ opponents' 95; but in their, second innings they produced tho magnificent total of 0, without even having a leg-bye or other extra' to assist them. Three of the team were bowled in. succession, the innings only lasting as many .minutes as the number of men in the team. : : Cricketers should cot fail to see the .■stock of cricket requisites at Lawa and Manning's, Courtenay Place.* AMATEUR ATHLETICS. THE WELLINGTON CENTRE. '■ The Wellington Centre of the New Zealand' Amateur Athletic Association met last evening, Mr. R. W. MlVilly presiding. . . . , >. A draft preliminary programme for* the Wellington provincial championship meeting,-to be held at the Basin Reservo.on January 14, .1911, was submitted by the programme sub-committee and adopted.without amendment. ■ The Port Nicholson Cycling Club was authorised to include amateur events on tho programme of its sports meeting, to be held at the Basin Reserve on January 2, 1911. The Karori 'Club was granted permission' to hold an. evening meeting (four events) on December 14. The Potone Club .applied for pormis-' sion to hold a meeting on February 11. The centre discussed at length tho allocation of dates for meetings to be. held in January and February. Finally it was decided to defer consideration for. a. week. ■

TO-DAY'S SPORTS CARNIVAL
A largo croWd should bo attracted to the Basin Reserve by the excellent, bill of faro provided by the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club. The cream of the amateur talent in.the city is performing, and a contingent of runners from the Wairarapa and Manawatu have come down expressly for the meeting.' The New Zealand champions who will be seen.in action arc W. A. Woodger, who is starting in the 100 yarda sprint, and is conceding a handicap of 11 yards, P. C. Hubbard, the longjump champion, who is starting in the jumps, ■hurdles and sprint events, A. Evenscn, champion hurdler, who will be seen out in.the pole vault,' hurdles and jumps, and L. M. M'Kay, champion shotputter and p'ole-vaulter, who will be seen to advantage in- all the field events. , - M'Kay is also going to at,tempt to break the present existing New Zealand standard of 44 feet in the hop, step and; jump event. Highland pipers and dancing, a brass bandj and various lighter events, to say nothing of afternoon tea, will provide the variety items in. an interesting programme, which can be recommended to all fond of an afternoon's good sport and recreation.;
