Considerable interest is being evinceif amongst members of the Roman Catholi< community here (says our Pahiatua cor* respondent) in the movement to erect a convent for the. Brigidine. Sisters of Mercy. Since their arrival in Pahiatuo some four years ago they have occupied the Presbytery, which Father M'Kenna vacated in their favour, in the .'mean* while taking up his abode in a small cot' tage adjacent to the church. . It is est* mated that the cost of the building will be about .£I2OO, and at a meeting held i» the church on Sunday last more tha? half of this amount was collected in if few minutes.
