Whilst he was proceeding, Mr. Glover was interrupted by Mr. Kaihau, who, in Splendid English, re- ' marked: "I understand him." Mr. Glover (to the Chairman): I: don't think Mr. Kaihau understands English. Mr. Kaihau: I.understand more thaa you did. (Laughter.) Mr. Chairman (to Mr. Glover): Hs says he understands.
