As on the first day Equitas was made favourite, while quite a good price could be obtained about Full Rate. Thero was a slight delay at the barrier, but Full Rate again got the best of it and led the whole way. At the entrance to the straight Full Rate came out and met Equitas and the resultant collision sea ttred the field. Tenterhook. and Irish Hiflo had been prominent up to this, but they fell back and finished last. Emblem only went a couple of furlongs when she collided with tho fence and was pulled up. Gladiole, who was in a pretty bad way internally, as the result of having oaten something poisonous last night,, was withdrawn from the Nikau Handicap. Vibration was a slightly better favourite than Slerrio Frank nntl they finished in that order, with Ngatiruanui, who again ran wildly, running on at the finish, i Sandstream, with Oliver in the saddle,vr<iv. made favourite in the Manchester Handicap, with good money for Mendip. Countermine and Koran made play early, with Mendip and Sandstream handy. Down the back Strathmoira joined the leaders and Sir .Solo followed suit. Across the bend the favourite challenged Countermine and led into the straight, but the latter ran wide and Gray slipped Mendip through on tho rails and got to tho front. John came with a late run, but could not reach Mendip. Teotane was just in front of Sandstream. Tho Cheltenham Hurdles was a good raeo and full of excitement throughout. Despite the fact that The Native had a rise of 251b. for his first day's win he was again made favourite. Waikaraka made the pace, and passing the stand he wns ten lengths to the good, but with six-furlongs to go' he suddenly, put in his toes, and would not gallop. Young gave him several sharp cuts, and he dashed off again. With half a mile to go The Native was nearest to him. At the next - fence Woikaraka unseated Young, and' The Native, took charge, while Hydrant met with' interference. Over the last fence Hydrant challenged, and in a good finish The Native won by a neck, with' Rosegrove close up, and Waterworks last. A surprise was in store in- the Hack Hurdles, when tho little-fancied MerryLawn romped in an easy winner. Himitangi was made favourite, but the fast paco set completely carried him off his feet. Moonhall dashed off at flag-fall, and set a very merry pace, which soon had tho field strung out. He was done with at the half-mile, and Merry Lawn then took charge and won easily. . The betting was voTy even in the Welter Hack, several horses having their chances highly assessed. The race was a splendid one, the whole field being bunched throughout, and presenting a very pretty sight. Patrobus todk charge before the turn, and, stalling off a late run by Mallet, he wonby a length. True Knight was a length clear of Jlidian, and then came Master Laddo and Kauroa. San Pluie led to the home turn in the Maiden Hack Scurry, and was then passed by Jackpin, who won very easily by a length. San Pluie was just in front-of The Rover. Irish Rifle was tho only withdrawal from the Railway Welter, twelve acceptors going to the post. When the field settled down, Marton was in front, and ho led around tho home turn, with Bunkum close up. Half-way home Lady Menschikoff cut down tho leaders, and won on tho post by a neck MARK RYAN HURT. Auckland, December 1.
