■Asked .by'.Mr...Field whether in the event of a cow-testing association being .'established/.in the. levin district the "Agricultural Department would assist financiallly, the Hon. T. Mackenzie, Min- . ister. for Agricullture, replied in the fHpuse yesterday, as under:— .-' '-'If. a, cbw-testjng association is formed the,. Department*s\officers will be glad to 'assist;with,the best advice they can offer -.as theresult'of their experience in establishing, similar associations in other dis-, : tricts; : but, as the working of these organisations in :New : Zealand has now been . fully demonstrated, the, dairy companies . ajad milk-suppliers in each district''should be .prepared:"; to', themselves undertake the small.expcnso invplved. The Department ■will..give all possible assistance in cases where the 'companies'and settlers wish to . .organise : associations on these lines' in • Teadiness, for ■ next season."
