A SENSATIONAL FINISH.
(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, November 28. The finish of tho Trial Handicap at Takapuna.on Saturday was of tho sensational order. Waiotahi and ■ Heta flashed past tho judgo's box only separated by a head, but they bad not pulled up before Heta crashed into a horse, which was ridden by a mounted constable, and which was standing near tho rails. Both horses and riders were hurled to tho ground. The horso ridden by tho constable was quickly on its feet, and bolted. The officer on picking himself up went to tho assistance of neta's rider ,(R. E. Brown), who had been knocked down a second time by a passing horso. It was at first thought tnat Brown's injuries were of a serious nature, but ho was able three hours later to ride Impulsive in tho Cheltenham Handicap. The horse Heta had to be destroyed. .
