At the instance of General Botha (South African Premier), who was supported by Dr. Jameson, the Union Assembly unanimously appointed a select committee to examine tho educational systems of the four provinces, with a. view to ensuring equality of opportunity for the English and Dutoh languages, in accordance with Article 137 of the Constitution, and not by compulsion.
