OVER 80,000 TONS;. OF SHIPPING, . On Monday the wharves at Wellington presented a busy appearance, for there were.on fewer than 39 coastal and overseas vossels in port,, these including ths threo warships, Powerful, Encounter, and Cambrian, The net registered tonnage of the merchantmen represented 38,419 tons, while the crows employed by the various vessels amounted to a total. of 2700. • Tho largest merchantman, in p<unt of tonnage, in port at the time, was the New Zealand Shipping Co.'s Ruapchu, 5069 tons, carrying a crew of 100, while the smallest vessel was the .Patea _ trader Aorere, 64 tons, with a crew of nine. Included in the above totals ' were sail as well ns steam. The tonnage of tho warships'is 24,410, making a grand total of 82,859 tons.
