Bookmakers fees totalled NOTES ON THE RACING- ■ (By.'.Tcleßrapn..-SDecial OorrcsnonilontJ ' , palmerston North, November .17. . Waterworks was withdrawn from the Hurdles, being reserved tor tho Feilding meeting. To Whctn. and Wirral were both better backed than Sleacombe. The race was robbed of some interest by Moat and Spaniard falling; at'the second fence. Te Wlletu and Wirral drow out from the field at first, bn , late:-both ran .themselves to a standstill. Te Whetu could not respond when Sleactfmbe challepged. ' . , .. Gold Battery - (A. Oliver) looked like winning the November Handicap from end to end, but made n. poor effort when Sea Queen, who was always at; a false price, - challenged insido the distance. With another stone on her back Tigerine won as easily as on the" previousi day in the same time. This was her third win in as many starts. Oladiole was again' runner up. None of thCK others were within striking distance of the winner, who will not bo long winning her way out- of the hack class. Ariom (stable, mato of Tigerinc) nearly repeated her first day's performance. She beat everything . except Composed San Fran-Aio), a stable mate of Tina Ton, who has not done much good since she won the Guineas last season. She was ridden by W, Price,-who scored on Sea Queen earlier in the day. Composed was much better backed -than on the previous day, when she finished out of- a place.in the race won by Morce. Clemora was always favourite • for tho Spring Handicap, but could only finish fourth in a fast ' run race. After acting as pacemaKcr for about .tivo furlongs, Vi gavo way to Voetgang. In the straight the Merriweo mare again took charge, and looked as if shq were going to land tho double, until Highden shot out of the ruck, half-way down tho running, and came Highden had tho benefit of C. Emerson's services. He is a more experienced rider than J. Eva, who had the mount on the previous day. Golden Ball, runner-up to Eangiatua in the Maiden Race, was favourite for the Scurry, arid, anticipatinir the Jiar-
rier, was nevor hoaded. Soulliform looked like being dangerous at balf way, but died away again, and just missed a place. Til the Piripiri Hack Handicap Niwaru (Torpedo—Lady Heart) was sent out thn hottest fvourite of the meeting. Jlerrie Frank got out In his best style, and appeared unlucky to lose. Sublime, Jlarton, Cyreiie, and Highden (who carried 101b. penalty) were saddled up again in the Oringi Welter. Separator (a stable mate of Niwaru) was always at. a ridiculously short price, but was never in the leading division. Captain Bell {jot out smartly on the rails,. and led till the straight, where Marton, who was one of the least fancied, shot up, and scored cleverly. He was ridden by C Price. FEILDING ACCEPTANCES. Owners nro reminded.that acceptances for the first day's events at the Feilding Jockey Club's meeting aro due to-night. RACING. FIXTURES, Nov. 30 and Dec. I— Feildiug E.C. Spring.
