NEW ARCHBISHOP OF OTTAWA.
Mgr. Gauthier, Archbishop of Kingston, ha-s been appointed Archbishop of Ottawa, and the choice is sure to bo hailed with universal satisfaction. The language and race question presented some _ difficulties in the making of a selection. Mgr. Gauthier is generally regarded as a French Canadian, but he speaks English perfectly, and it is well known that he thoroughly sympathises with the demand for a greater rocog-> nition of the needs of the Englishspeaking Catholics of the Dominion.— "The Tablet."
