BIG SHIPMENTS OF BUTTER. (By Telegraph.—Special Oorresjiondent.) Auckland, November 11. The quantity of butier Jto. be taken by the steamer Ruahine,.,which saiLs for London from Wellington on November 17, gives an indication of the increase of the export; The vessel has already shipped 15,948 hoses of butter, and 4410 boxes s will ,ba. taken by the Corinna, which leaves.here on-Saturday, for transhipment to the Ruahine. The' total quantity shipped from Auckland on the Ruahine will thus reach 20,358 boxes. For the corresponding period of last year, .the Rimutaka's shipment was ,18,459. The butter shipped represents a value of about £55,475. • The ; shipments of butter' since the beginning of the present season, including the Ruahine's cargo, total 62,988 boxes. The total for the corresponding period of last year was 56,544 boxes. The value of the present season's output would about £171,642,-..Besides the butter, the Ruahine also ''takes 792 crates of, cheese.
Locally, prices remain..practically unaltered, with the' result! that several factories.. are endeavouring to place as much butter on' the local market as they possibly can. ■ In December of last year, the steamer Turakina took a record, shipment of butter from' Auckland, totalling 21,411 boxes. This' record; it is considered, will /be easily beaten by the first December shipment this year, when, it is .confidently expected that 30,000 boxes will be shipped.
