POLICE CASE BEGUN. (By Telegraph.—Special Correc Don dent.) , Wanganui, November 11. Law searchlights were turned on th« affairs of the "Stray Parcels Company" in the Magistrate's Court this morning when Alfred Ernest Slipper'was charged, with obtaining the sum of ss. from one' John. Cook by fraud. As reported yesterday' it is alleged that the "Stray ; ■Parcels Company lad dispatched a number of letters to various persons residing ill all parts of tie North Island informing them that the company, lad registered a parcel for them, and would forward same .on receipt of postal notes for various sums ranging from ss. to Is. 3d. In connection with this Slipper was arrested by Constables Connor and Scannell. To-day Sergeant Bourke, for the police, asked for a remand till Wednesday, stating - that charges other than the present, one would also be brought. The remand was granted. It is alleged that accused had about 60 letters ready ,to send out, wlen arrested.
