OROUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting of the Ououa County Council was held yesterday. Present: Councillors 6. C. Wheeler (chairman), W. G. Pearcc, A. H. Vin«ent, Thos. Bowling, Hugh Burrell, and H. Redman. ( . Mr D. H. Guthrie, M.P., wrote stating that a vote of £400 on account of £1000 for Menzies Ford Bridge had been placed 011 the Estimates for the year.—Received. The Napier Chamber of Commerce for support for a scheme to get electric power by harnessing Lake Waikaremoana. Members of the council expressed the opinion that it was somewhat early in the. day for such a scheme. Mr. C. E. Green, representing tiers of the Malton Block, on the upper side of the.Pohangina River, waited on the council to endeavour to persuade it to assist them in getting a road out .into Ashhurst. A good deal of consideration was given to tho niaf> ter, and, the council decided to take certain steps by way of preliminary arrangements.

lie treasurer's report for tho month was as follows:—General rates levied for 1909-10, £4788; collected,' £4720. For 1910-11, levied, - £4830; collected, £1687. -Bank balance: ; General aceounty cr., £2339; interest account, dr., £438; Gorge Bridge account, dr., £638. . The -following changes were made in the rate roll: —R. M. Maunder to J. M. Graham ; Georce Devonport to W. H. Brooke; E. Charles to Donald Greer; William lliddler to A. L. Kreegher; August Kreegher to John Stern.
