(By Telegraph.—Press Association,) Auckland, November 11. Following upon the drop in Waihi sharee yerterrtay an improvement set in to-day, soles being made at tho third call up to £6 Bs. There have been persistent rumours about .to-day that a new reef has been cut into four feet, and shows mineral for that distance, but nothing of an authoritative nature has transpired regarding it. The Waihi correspondent of the "Star" v wired this afternoon:—"An o.re body ha's been struck in the south-east crosscut at No. 9 level of the Waihi Company's mine, which is beine put in to intersect the Union nnd Systom reefs." .
Tho Waihi Gold Mining Company's return for t-li© four-weekly period ended October 29 is £68.293 from 35,733 tons, making the total obtained from-the mine to date, £8,952,514. The Waihi correspondent of the ."Herald"' telegraphed to-nisht:—The prospecting of the crosscnt is being advanced in a southeasterly direction, with a view to exploiting the large area of. virgin country in the section, of the "Waihi Goldmining Company's property at No. 9 plan. A new make of ouartz lias been pierced at a depth of iOOOft, 8o far about seven or eight feet of nice-looking mineral ore has been expoeed with only one wa-U to hand,, and, from its appearance, should givo "eatißfactory. values. Further development will be necessary to determine the importance of the discovery, but it may be said.jfoeanwhile, that the exposure of a lode in this section of the mine is crtreTneiy gratifying, and points to the possibilities ahead in the hitherto unexplored- :of the companv's large area, which consists of close on 800 acres, and upon which no work lias been done for, many years. Almost concurrent with tlie discovery of the new reef, a further ninke of ounrtz has been met with on tho Edward lode beyond what ftpreared, to be the wall at the 1000 ft. level. Tho oro here also looks well,, but more will have to be done befote anything definite can be said concerning the importance of the development. DREDGING. ißy Telegraph.—Press Association.!
