THE DOCTOR AND THE TRAIN.
A STRANGE PROSECUTION. Our special correspondent at Mastertoil writes: A strange prosecution was made in tho Magistrate's Court yesterday morning before Mr. L. G. Reid, S.M. Dr. N. H. Prior was charged with a breach of tho Railway Act in obstructing tho railway between Masterton and Manriceville. It was stated in evidence that Dr. Prior was proceeding to Mauriceville on his motor-bicycle to attend an urgent case. The cycle broke down on the' Opaki Road, and tho doctor hailed a train that was passing north, at a junction. He was assisted aboard and paid his faro, with an additional fine. The prosecution was then instituted, after the doctor had explained the circumstances to the Department. Mr. Reid. S.M., said that a technical breach of tho'Act had doubtless been committed. He did not think, however, that the term "obstruction" in the Act : was meant to apply to a case of this sort. The information would be dismissed.
