LAKE COLERIDGE.
THE HYDRO-ELECTRICAL SCHEME. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurch, November 2. The Mayor has received an answer from the Minister for Public Works to his letter with referenco to the approximate date of the inauguration of tho Lake Coleridge hydro-electrical scheme. The Minister states that he anticipates being able to make a commencement in regard to the scheme almost immediately so far as tho necessary surveys and engineering investigations to locate sites arc- concerned. It was, however, improbable that any construction works will be put in liaud for a fen- weeks, and at any rate, uot until after Parliament allocates the necessary money. It is understood that tho work of erecting a house- for tho usp of tl\o surveying and engineering staffs in the vicinity of tho probablo site of tho power house will bo put in hand almost immediately. A snrvoy party, under , Mr. Boyle, is going oiit to tho Lake.Coloridgo district at once, and will survey tho line of tho race and conduct borings for the foundations of tie power house,
