Pearce'6 backers would not agree 'to this, and a protracted' conference took place at Palmersfcm yesterday,'' and ended_ in the Wanganui man's backers agreeing to. take £40, and to allow £50 to Pearce,' or, - iri the 1 alternative, the' winner take everything,' and . the loser'nothing. This the other side re-, fused, but, to-day, 1 they -wired agreeing to allow- £40 to Webb. The match may now be said to be'definitely arranged, though the question whether it will be rowed here or at Foxton still remains to he settled.
