Hutt Park Committee wero to have met for tlio purpose of discussing the rates owing by the committee to tho Hutt Borough Council and the Hutt River Board,' which amount to £129 14s. 9d., exclusive of thi-s year's River Board rates. It : is understood''that-the Hutt Council are. prepared to pay their proportion of the' rates, provided that Petone and Eastbourne Councils, who are interested in tho Hutt Park, agree to do the same. Letters on the subject are to be forwarded to the bodies 'concerned. PETONE. PALACE THEATRE. The Palace Theatre at' Petono. continues to attract good "houses", to its picturo ; entertainment. On Satuniay afternoon a "freo matinee" was given for children, and, naturally.enough, the | building was packed. M'Ewan, has been requested, by. tiio H-iiretaunga Boating, Club to ' call a public meeting of Petone citizens, for tho purpose ,of making arrangements for, holding a gala on New Year's Day on the Petone water-front. . The Eastern Hutt Side School will bo opened to-morrow morning.' " . A Hallowe'en "social" will be held.in St. David's Young Men's Class-room, this evening.' Aii excellent programmeof Scotch dances and songs is promised.
