HILL-CLIMBING COMPETITION,

The New Zealand Motor-cycle Club held a surprise hill-climb: on ■ Saturday afternoon. Competitors met ut the- clubroom in Messrs/ Dalgety and Co.'s building on Thornduu at 2 p.m., for weighing purposes, and were afterwards conducted to a hill unknown to them, but which had been selected by a committee set up fur the purpose. The hill proved to bo that leading from Brittoniart Street towards Brooklyn, and the course used was slightly over a mile 'in length. There were 23-starters; and the following are the results as decided on formula:—Private owners (lightweights): W. r/imnio (Motosacoche), 1; F. Garland (IVN.), 2; W. Barton (Minerva), 3; (heavy-weights).-.' L. It. Barber (Triumph), 1; C; Stone (Twin Matchless;, 2; H. Stewart (Minerva;, 3. Open class (light-weights): ■A. K. Hopkins (Motosacoche),. 1, H. Lawrence (Motosacoche), 2; C. Wright (Mountaineer), 3; (heavyweights/; M'lntosh (Triump'h), 1; N; E. Hyslop (Tourist Premier), 2; Keynolus (Tourist.; Premier), 3. _ . Mr. C. Dare Bridge acted as starcer, and Messrs. Daniel, Bowden, and Mac. dbnald as • timekeepers. The best climbs in light and heavy-weights respectively were made by B. S. Bender aud N. E. Hyslop.!.
