Slaughtermen express a good deal" of indignation in regard to Mr. Gilbert Anderson's statement, in a letter from London published in a local paper, that they get as. much wages as possible for as little work as possible. One of them told a reporter to-day that the .trouble complained ( of did not occur in tho slaughterhouse, but in the freezing cham, ber. , He attributes any damage to meat entirely to the treatment which it receives while it is being hurried through the freezing chamber, and he says tliat all, workers, especially, slaughtermen, display as much care as circumstances will allow.. - Mr. ' Anderson's letter will' be discussed at a meeting, of the .Canterbury Trades and Labour Council on Saturday night. '-.'"-.' ."•.'■ , A gentleman who is interested in labour affairs says that Mr. Anderson's remarks apply more to the North .. Island to . the South Island.
