A STARTLED HOUSEHOLDER.
FLOOD WATER FROM ATHLETIC PARK. An overflow from the pipe which drains the Athletic Park caused some trouble "about 2 o'clock on Saturday morning in the private residence of Mr. Holdaworth, in.Waripori Street. A big portion of the Athletic Park was under ,water, and the inundation overdowed tho City Council's main drain, and early in the morning Invaded Mr. Holdsworth's premises. ■'. The startled householder was uwukeued by a splashing round his bed posts, and hastily jumping out found himself anklo deep in the.cold water. After much truublo the wafer was bailed off. On Saturday afternoon, when 'iomii of the flood water on the Athletic Park was being- drained off by Rugby Union olGcials, to the disturbance of a considerable number of seagulls, who were holding swimming races, Mr. Holdsworth naturally expected another flood visitation, and protested strongly against the operations'' which wero being put in hand. Matters, however, were amicably settled.
