INEBRIATES' HOME.
WHAT THE SALVATION ARMT IS DOING. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, August 11. The Salvation Army is about to establish a second Inebriates' Honie. For this purpose it has bought Ruthes Island, which is near Pakatoa, tho site of the present home. The lease of Pakatoa Island will shortly expire. Ruthes Island is about 300 acres in extent, or about five times the size of Pakatoa. When the new home is ready the Army hopes to accommodate 100 persons, as compared with the present maximum of 55. StaffCaptain Barnes, who is in charge of the two islands, states that the authorities at the. Army's headquarters have not yet made any announcement as to whether tho home at Pakatoa Island is to Ire continued as part of the scheme, or whether the system is to be confined to tho larger island. It was once suggested that Pakatoa should be retained as ; a homo for female inebriates, but it is not yet known whether thi6 project will be adopted.
