(From Our Special Correspondent,) palmerston, July 26."".-. The principal business dealt with at tlio monthly meeting of the Palmerston High Sohooi Board of- Governors was the ■•' coning of tenders for tho erection of the new High School building. I'luns wati specifications were received from the, architect, Mr.' V. do J, Gere, and it waß resolved that tenders should ■ closo on . August 13. The specifications .provide that the building shall be. completed by, January 23 next. In the new building there will bo 9078 square feet of floor space, being within a few feet of tho floor space provided at the present technical school, with its two stories.' This will ' give I'almeistou readers some idea of theiine building tliat is to be erected. 'The new school in the matter of architecture will l)e very much more imposing than tlio one which was destroyed by fire during the stirring Powellta times. Tho rector, Mr. J. 15. Vernon reported that. the school roll still stood at 185, but the very inclement weather had interfered • greatly with the attendance, bringing ■ down tho average, which of course. reduced the capitation allowance. A sng- ' gestion was received ■ from Mr.' C. Louisson that a junior branch of the school ' should ba opened. He personally knew of ' a number of boys who would attend if this were' done. The rector gave it as his opinion that the lime was not ripo for such a step, and with this view the members of tlui board agreed-, and no action was taken.
