FARMERS' UNION MEETING.

PALMERSTON BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Palmerston Branch was held, on Saturday. Sir. J . Balsillie presided, and there werepresent: Messrs. H. J. • Barber, i< , . itiaule, A. Harding, A. Farmer, J. Wingate, ami C. Voss. Mr. A. M'Naught wrote with regard to the proposed wool-classing demonstration, aini saiij thai., ppuig to demands on his services in the Souih Island he would not be able to visit l J iilmerston until August." It was resolved to refer Mr. M'lVaught's letter to . the 'director of the Technical School, to arrange, for the lectures to bo held in August. Air. Balsillio. gave a, report of the meeting held by the provisional diieetors of the .proposed Co-operativo Freezing Company, stating that as soon as an ostimate of'the amount of support in this and the surrounding districts was obtained, an active canvass for shares would bo made. He bad every hope "of the'proposal, being' successfully floated, and'it would bo a great benefit to Palmerston to have a farmers' company working in the district.

'J-ho accounts in connection with the recent. annual dinner 'were passed for payment. Tho matter of., holding the dinner earlier in the year was favoured, and will most likely bo carried out next year.

Tho chairman brought up tho matter of having the organisation of the Farmers' Union put on a better footing, and stated that the offer of a prominent farmer to give a substantial amount to a scheme was still open. The need of having several good organisers working throughout the Dominion was very important, and he thought tho Dominion Council should consider tho matter at the conference in Wellington.
