ORANGE CELEBRATION.
Tho Loyal Orange Institution hold its annual celebration ycswru'ay atterlioon. Tho Orange Lodges were led by the Central Mission Band, in a march from tho Government Station to tho King's Theatre, wh'jro a united service, was held at 3 p.m. A very largo congregation assembled, the body of tho hall to the gallery, and tho gallery itseJf, being filled with worshippers. Tho Rev. E. 0. Blamirea, who presided over tho gathering, wa-s accompanied on the platform by tho Revs. Keith Even (Baptist) arid P. J. Corsuni (Primitive Methodist), and by tho masters of tho Orango Lodges. Apologies for absence, were received from the Revs. W. Shirer (Presbyterian), Sims (Primitive Mothodist), K. Richards.(Methodist), and Colonel Knight (Salvation Army). Tho Eev. E. 0. Blamires took as his text, John VII, 32: "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." The preacher dwelt on the points of correspondence between Roman Catholics and Protestants. Belief in tho personality and Fatherhood of God and the doctrine of tho Trinity, the articles of tho Apostles' Creed, found Protcsta,uts ajid Catholics on common ground. Having noted this correspondence, tho preacher referred to the words of tho Ora.nge qualification, wherein Roman. Catholics are styled "brethren." It was, he said, the desire of Orangemen to stand for toleration, • broadmindedness, and sweot reasonableness. In closing, Mr. Blamires pictured tho growth of Christianity from tho timo of the Information', and dwelt on the all sufficiency of Christ and of God's direct access to tho human soul. A feature of tho service was tho singing by tho Lyric Male Choir of one hundred voices, which included tho Trinity Methodist choir and that of the Berhampore Baptist Church. Tho vocalists were ably led by Mr. H. Gladstone Hill, a.nd were accompanied by an efficient orchestra of twenty instruments, conducted by Mr. Hosie. ißr leleEraDli— Prcai Association.) Chrlstchurch, July 10. The customary procession of members of tho Orango lodges, in celebration of tho Twelfth of July, was held this afternoon, and attended by 200 in regalia. At the Opera House afterwards there was a lairly largo attendance of the public, when the following motion was unanimously agreed to:— "That this meeting, representative of the Orango lodges of this /city and suburbs, with tho. congregation now. assembled, emphatically protest against any alteration to the Accession Oath, believing that in the light of the past history of our nation that to tamper with what has been our ' safeguard against tho return of the temporal power of tho Papacy would be decidedly contrary to the principles and security of tha throne of Great.Britain." .
