ROOSEVELT'S FUTURE.
AMERICAN SPECULATIONS. By TeleeraDh—Press Association—Cosyrleht (Rec. June 20, 9.30 p.m.) New York, June 20. Mr. Rooseveit's remarks thanking Judge Gaynor, Mayor .of New York, for his welcome are interpreted as a summons for Republican action, and a pledge of his own readiness to assist. The London "Times'" New York correspondent says it is universally recognised that Mr. Roosevelt's influence may become the decisive factor in the present situation. THE NEXT PRESIDENT. REPUBLICANS' ONLY HOPE. (Rec. June 20, 10.15 p.m.) I London, Juno 20. Tho London "Daily News" says that Mr. Roosevelt has returned not only to tho United States, but cleaTly to public life. Naturally a' master of ceremonies ho was far too wise to say anything about politics on landing. Tho Republican party on their part extol Mr. Roosevelt as an individual. He is, in fact, the "News" declares, tho only Republican able to keep tho Presidency for tho party. In the meantime, the party managers, who have brilliantly succeeded in impressing America that ho is tho greatest living American, have not, however, an altogether easy task in maintaining and enhancing that impression over somo years, in expectancy of his accepting nomination for tho next Presidential election.
