PUTTING DOWN ROUGH PLAY.

The Auckland Rugby Union is making strenuous ed'orts to put down rough play and at this evening's meeting dealt with several players who were reported. C. Savory, of tho Ponsonby Club's senior s grnclo tenm, was suspended until the end of season 1912; E. Dervan, a member of the samo team, for tho rest of, the. season; and a ' junior player named Clark was also suspended .for tho remainder of the season. The Auckland Union has decided to accept the Canterbury Rugby Union's suggested date (September 10) for tho representative match, provided Canterbury could not arrange an, earlier date. THE ASSOCIATION GAME. '■• MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE.A meeting of the Management .Committee of the Wellington Football Association was held in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms last evening, Mr. H. N. Holmes presiding. There were also present: Messrs. J. Davidson, J. B. Paton, W. Auld, 11. Mackay, .Duncan, H. Mayer, J. M. Oilier, B. L. 1 Salmon, and A. "Williams, lion secretary. The Otago ' Association wrote suggesting that August 6 or August 13 would bo a suitable date for the Wellington-Otago Brown Shield match. It was decided that no date could be fixed just now, as Wellington might be defeated in one of the two challenges to be played before the Otago niatch. / The Manawatu Association asked , for a definite reply as to whether a team was going to. visit Palmorston during show week. The secretary stated that ho had replied that it was proposed to send a team up on Juno 21. It waa decided to advise Mtiuawatu definitely that the team would make tho trip, leaving Wellington on June 23. The team, which will bo managed by Mr. Duncan, wilt be selected on Saturday evening. A large number of players available for the trip have already sent in their names. . The selectors wero instructed to pick the team to represeut Wellington in the Brown Shield match against "Waiiganul by Saturday . week. Another complaint was received about the Seatoun ground not being marked out. The Berhampore Baptist Club complained of the grounds allotted to it. St. Johns forwarded a similar complaint. Tho letters were referred to the Orounds Committee. The Swifts Club forwarded a recommendation that the Wednesday Cup be called the "Wednesday Association Football Cup." Tt was decided to inscribe the cup as under:—"Wellington Football Association Wednesday League Cun,"nnd to place the name of the donor, Mr. J. F. Atkins, 'on tho trophy. Tho Wanganui Association WTote suggesting. Mr. W. Wood or M. J. B. Paton us! referee for the ' Wellington-Wauganui Brown Shield niatch, to be played on July 2. The matter was referred to the «ew Zealand Association. ■It was decided to suggest to the Taralidki Association that in the event of Wellington defeating Wanganui, July 16 be set down as the date for the Welling-ton-Taranaki Brown Shield match. The Referees' Association forwarded the following resolution passed on Juno H:-"That it be an instruction to all members of the Referees' Association not to allow any substitute to come on the field of play, under any conditions, after the commencement' of anv competition match the jurisdiction of tho The Wellington Rugby Union wrote ngrceing to let the association have the use of tho full ground at Newt Own Park on July 2. . The protest- from» the Rnngprs Club against Marist "A" in the Fourth Division competition, on the ground that an over-age player took part in the game, was further considered, and it "was decided to inform the Rangers Club that until they complied with the rules,as to protests no action could be taken.
