At the fortnightly -meeting^or .the. committee of the Wellington--Society fori the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 1 held yesterday,! there'twercprcsentV-Tlre chairman (Mr. J. S. Jameson),'Mosdanies ; Kernot, Maxwell, and Christie, and Messrs. J. M. Richardsoni. W. Watson, I. Uott, and the Rev. J. R-.» Glasson. Various reports relating to the work of the society were considered, action being decided upon in certain instances of alleged cruelty. The committee acknowledged, with thanks, donations to its funds from 1 the following:—Mr; M. Chapman and the Gear' Meat Co., Ltd.,-one guinea each; Te Aro House, 10s.; Messrs. H. Pollen, C. M'Adam, Coulls, Culling, Ltd., and "Friend," ss. each; Mr. H. Norris, 2s. Gd.; total, 14s. Gd. A .letter was received from the "Wellington Ministers' • Association, stating, in reply to the committee's request that a Sunday be set apart as a "Mercy Sunday/' that while extending the utmost sympathy with the movement, at this stage no particular Sunday could be set apart for the purpose.- •
