OKDINAKY MEETING OF COUNCIE, ■ Th'e Pctone Borough Council met last night. Present: The Mayor (Mr. J. W. M'Ewari), Councillors Short, Harding, Kouthgate, Piper, Young, Jones, and Trueman.

It was decided, on the Mayor's suggestion, to meet on Monday evening next to discuss the estimates for the year. •

The Commissioner of Crown Lands forwarded details in connection with the expenditure of "thirds" and "fourths" on the Korokoro roads, involving the sura of .£3l 3s.—lt was decided to apply for tht money. , .■•-■■' The Minister for Railways wrote in reference to the blocking of Kelly's Lane by railway traffic. He advised the-coun-cil that the Gear Company should instruct its men to attend to the trucks in a. proper manner, or employ a. horse to do the necessary shunting.—lt was decided to forward the letter to Hie Gear Company, with a Tequest that efforts be made to carry,out the Minister's'suggestions.

The Depuity-Valuer-General informed Hie. council tlrat the " borough property roll, which was undergoing revision, would be available within the next two v;eeks.

The secretary of the Hufct Park Committee wrote applying for payment of a subsidy of £59.— 1t was decided to contribute ioO if the Hutt Borough. Council does the same. It was resolved, on the motion of the Mavor, to take steps to change the name of 'Kelly's" Lane to Te Puni Street. Hβ explained that this would meet the views of Maoris living in' the vicinity.
