Tea was served in the diningroom and in tho drawingroom, which were decorated with cosmeas of various shades. During tho afternoon, recitations were given by Mrs. Shirtcliffe, Mrs. Kreeft, Miss E. Rhodes,' president of the District Nursing Guild of St. John, has issued invitations for Friday evening at Godber's Rooms, Lambton Quay, to meet the collectors and receive' tho moneys collected. Ther<s will bo a short musical programme. Mrs. Inder, wife of tho postmaster at Masterton, lias been ill in Palmerston for the past six months, but her health has improved enough to allow, her return to Masterton. In the Wesley Hall this afternoon Hie Ladies' Auxiliary of Methodist Foreign Missions is holding a sale of gifts to aid in the laudablo object which they have in view. The Chinese- Consul, who ■knows and appreciates (ho work of missions, has kindly consented to open the Bale. Afternoon tea is to be obtainable, anil it is expected that a large measure of support will be given by 'the ladies of Wellington.
