( (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ■ Auckland, May 25. < An interesting discussion took place at 1 to-day's meeting of the ]sducation Board ( relative to the need for instructing child- ' Ten in knowledge of the evils of smoking ' and gambling. i A letter was received from the Salva- ' tion Army stating that an anti-gambling 1 and anti-smoking league for the. boys and t girls of New Zealand had just been t launched, and they desired .tho Auckland t Education Board to allow an officer of * the Army to visit- city schools and give « a short address to tho children on tho * evils of smoking and gambling. This « privilege had been granted in other places and had proved very satisfactory 1 in its results. Mr G. Edgecumbe said that there was no doubt that smoking and gambling were growing evils, and no possible harm c could como of acceding to tho request s made. j n.
