NEW UNION PARTY.
FOUNDED BY THE PROGRESSIVES, DR. JAMESON LEADS. By TelesraDh-Prosa Assodation-OoDyriete (Hoc. May 25, 10.15 p.m.) Capß Town, May 25. A conference of the Progressive party at Bloenifontein has formed tho Unionist Party of South Africa. Dr. Jameson was unanimously elected lender, and received an ovation. Ho remarked that a great man, having the largest following, had been chosen to form the first Cabinet of • tho Union. Judging by General Botha's past, they believed he would do his best. Dr. Jameson summed up tho new party's policy as equality of opportunity and tho material development of South Africa in tho common interest, the legitimate protection of South Africans, and reciprocal preference within the Empire. Ho hoped Jo get rid of the bugbear of racialism. BOTHA CABINET PHOVISIONALLY COMPLETED. Cape Town, May 21. General Louis Botha has provisionally completed tho first Union Cabinet. The names of the Ministers will not be. announced until May 31. The Governor-General, Lord Gladstone, and Lady Gladstone have left for Pretoria.
