IS ——— lS A conference was held yesterday aftero noon between' tho sub-committee of the o City Council appointed to negotiate o for {:ho purchase of ail area of laud at >. the east end of Lyall Bay from the trustees of the Crawford Estate, and the e Hon. T. W. Hislop, representing the ,t trustees. Tho conference was over in less j- than an hour. Since the original offer was made the trustees have agreed 1 to it gwo a strip of land along the beach, n amounting in area to four acres, for a is reserve if the purchase is agreed to, 's thus reducing the area for which the k council wquld be called upon to pay to s 20 acres. It is understood that at the conference ) held yesterdty, a suggestion was made k that the council should purchase a larger f area than was originally placed under offer. This opens up new ground for consideration; and for further negotiae tion between the council and the trustd ees. The sub-c<iminittee will report to '■ the council at its next meeting, and it is understood to be very probable that a •1 purchase of land by the municipality at IS the east end of Lyall Cay will eventually 11 be 'arranged, though as to the prt-ei.se terms and areas now under consideration no information is forthcoming, s >
