ANNUAL DINNER. The annual dinner of the Karori Rifle Club wab held at' Godber's Rooms last (1 evening. There was a vory good attend* ; anco of mombers. Among the visitors were Colonel 11. JV Collins, V.D., 1.5.0. 2 * (Chief Executive Officer of the Domini. ion Rifle Association), Major Guy Johnsi, ton (North Staffordshire Regiment), Mr. 0 F. 33. Mabin (financial secretary to the 1 Council of Defence), and Captain G. T. ' Hall (Active List, unattached). The fimclS tion was an entire success. s. The toast of "The_J)efence Council" ♦ (proposed by Mr. H. 0. Browne, in tho lv absence of Mr. "W. H. Field, M.F.), was . responded to by Mr. F. B. Mabin, in' a c ' felicitous speech. He complimented the d olub on its past work, and the example it it set to other clubs in going into camp d for instruction in field-firing practice. 0 'There were now' 157 rifle clubs in tho k Dominion, with a total membership of -) 3G4G. Wellington led with 80 clubs, and l ® a total membership of 1850 men. Can--10 terbury followed with 26 clubs, and 482 rt men; Auckland, 20 clubs and 419 men; d Otago, 12 clubs and i!fcß man.
