It will be my earnest endeavour to uphold constitutional Government, and to safeguard in all their fulness tho liberties that are enjoyed throughout my Dominions; and, under the guidance of God, tho Ruler of all men, I will maintain upon the foundation of Freedom, Justice, and Peace, the great heritage of the United British Empire." At a meeting of the City Council tho Mayor- announced that, owing to the, death of lung Edward, he did not intend to give a civic banquet, but would, instead, subscribe .£SOO towards the erection of a statue to King Edward in Adelaide. Other subscriptions received, and .£250 voted by the council, already make the fund total .£3BOO.
