! 0— , "Living Now Zealand" failed to t materialise last evening, to the dis- -- appointment of about 1200 people who i waited, in the Town Hall until 8.45. p.m. Tho trouble arose, according to an announcement made from tho stage by themanager, through "someone having tampered with the machine." At first it was thought that the difficulty could bo got over bv securing another machine, and a second one was obtained, but it could not be fitted up in timo for tho pictures to be displayed last evening, and the management had reluctantly to announce tbat tickets would be given to all iu the hall which would bo available I either for to-night or Thursday evening, Ilefore the full seriousness of ll\c position was Mrs. Sutcliffo recited Clement Scoti's poem, "The Midnight . Charge," very effectively, and a capable little orchestra, under Mr. D. Kenny, ployed several selections. , A Dominion- representative was informed by the business representative of "Living Pictures" that a trial run hud been held during tlie afternoon, when all had gone well, but between then either' . the machine had been "got at" or something bad occurred mysteriously which put it out of .'running order. The cnter- ' tainment will 1» given this evening, when ' some gems of New Zealand scenery, including some very fine, and quite ovigiiiiil ' views taken in the thermal regions, and ! other paints of scenic interest in different parts of the Dominion.
