A PARIS SENSATION.
SISTEtt OF CHARITY CHARGED. Ry Teleffrapn—Press Association—<JooyrlKbL (Rec. May IS, 9.53 p.m.) Paris, May 16. A sensation has been caused in Paris by the prosecution of Soeur Candide, a well-known member of the Sisters of Charity, and the foundress of several hospitals. It is alleged, that Soeur Candide obtained £80,000 worth of jewels from fifteen jewellers on credit, and sold the jewels to patrons of charities. Soeur Candide refused to tell the magistrate where the money was, and denied that she had pawned tho jewels. She stated that the jewellers would bo paid in due course.
