BARON "ISLINCTON."
Sir,—So iihis is what we are coming to! Feudalism is gone for. ever, and 'the old fighting stocks—the Nevilles,, the Scotts, the Howards—will be' heard of no more. They have played their, part and there: is no more room for them in .the modern menage. Their only, place now is to exist as curiosities alongside-the warming-pans, - the punchladies and-cthe -posset-bowls of a bygone time.; ■ The. peer of the future will be of quite another metal, and wo may expect soon to hear of Baron Billingsgate, Viscount Wormwood-Scrubs, the Earl of Whitechapel, and his Grace the Duke of Tooting. Possibly equally useful but decidedly less picturesque I—l am, etc., < DIGAMM A. [A corrected cable message gives thetitle of our new Governor as Baron llsington. This correction, however, in no way affects the point of our correspondent's letter.] v ■
