LACROSSE.

WELLINGTON, 4; CAPITOL, 1. In the game Wellington v. Capitol the former proved a surprise packet, and succeeded in pulling off' a hardearned victory by 4 goals to 1. Capitol were excellent in attack from the outset, but the opposing, defence, consisting of Robinspn at point, Meyer at cover, and Webb in goal, prevented them scoring. Meanwhile Wellington's attack, consisting of Firth, Peniington, Ronouff. and Carvor, penetrated the Capitol defence. Capitol' rallied, and equalled '.the' score ; but Wellington replied with two further goals- in quick succession. At half-time the score stood 3—l in favour of the Reds. On resuming the play of. both teams left nothing to indicate, that one. was stronger than another, but after prolonged and rapid transferring of the ball from one end to tho other, Wellington secured and notched their fourth point. Several new.players., in both clubs were conspicuous by good play/ ..

. KEL.BURNE,'3; COLUMBIA, 0. The defeat of Columbia by Kelbume by 3. goals to nil was not unexpected, but" the game was well contested, ana the losers are to bo congratulated on their showing. Columbia forced matters from the start, and should have scored, but for some faulty stick-work ■Kelburne . promptly relieved, and their homes found the net. Play of a very high standard then ensued, both sides showing- excellent combination. t Kelburne, however, found their opponents' net again before half-time, when the score stood 2 —o. On resuming, Column bia again. forced tho attack, but ,the opposing defence proved, invulnerable to the end, whilst Kelburno once, moro were sucesssftil in scoring. Leydon, at centre, for Colnmbia, and Mac Govern, in goal,. wero probably the best'for. their side, and Fledger, at third, home, Jordan, on defence, and Psalington, in goal, for Kelburne, were brilliant. Shaw, Kelburno's new home,' shows marked improvement, which may probably be the outcome of early morning practice. " ,
