A MONTH'S KILLING.
KETTON OF ABATTOIR BUSINESS. A,report on the work~carried out at the municipal. abattoir's during March was- adopted by the Gity Council .last evening, by the committee in charge of the abattoir.' ■ , : The manager had intimated that the following stock had been slaughtered:— 267 cattle, 2012 sheep,' 690. lambs, 43 pigs, 56 calves, ') ! " ", \ '■ : Out of this number, 5 cattle, 16 sheep, and 2 pigs had been condemned as unfit for human consumption. . . The fees on the stock slaughtered at the abattoir amounted to :£76 15s. 2d., an increase of £8 2s. 2d. 6n last,month. The fees collected from, the Meat Export slaughterhouses amounted to £231 19s. 7d., an increaso of £16 ss. 7d. on the previous month. The amount due for the,sale of offal and runners was £66 14s. lid;, thereby making the total receipts for the month or March £375 9s. Bd. , The numbers of stock killed and fees, collected for tho period from December, 1909, to March 31, 1910, wore as fol-' 10w:—847 cattle, 7201 ■ sheep, 3347 lambs, 179 pigs, 144 calves. Condemned stock: 29 cattle, 38 sheep, 3 pigs, l.calf. Fees collected:—Stock : slaughtered at/abattoir, £283-16s. 6d.; stock 1 .islaughtered , ;at Meat: ■ Export slaughterhouses, £928 ss. 4d.; commission on sale of offal and runners, £25 17s. 9d.; total receipts, £1237 19s. 7d.
