GARRISON SIGNALLERS' CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING, ■ The annual meeting of'tho Wellington Garrison Signallers' Olub was held at the Garrison Hall last evening, Lieutenant Hulbert, District Staff Signalling- Officer, in the chair., -There was,': a representative attendance of . members. Captain J. E. Duigan, General Staff Instructor in. Engineering, was also present, and delivered an interesting address on the new organisation and training to be undertaken during the ensuing year. In the annual rouort, which was adopted, the coniniittee'rcgretted that the attendance at tho lectures which were given by tho garrison- officers during the winter months was not .so- good as might have been. Tho various competitions held during the year,' and the lectures, "socials," and other functions had tended very greatly to improve the general standard of signalling throughout, tho district. In reviewing tho results of-the signalling competitions (previously recorded in The Dominion), regret was expressed that hot more than two teams competed for the cup'on April 5, and the hope was expressed that every corps in tho battalion would endeavour, to have at least one team, in training for the next competition. The thanks' of the club were due to Colonel A. W. Robin, C.B. (Chief of the General . Staff), Lieutenant-Colonel .A. Banchop, C.M.G. (Officer Commanding the District), Captains E. 0. Chesney and'J.- E.' Duigan, Lieutenants Chappie and Hulbert for lectures given during, tho winter;' to Lieutenant-Colonel. W. G. i Duthio and staff for tho Semaphore Cup; Sergeant Petersen, E.N.Z.A., and Sergeant, Cowles for tho use of the clubroom; Mr. J.\P. Firth, for the use of the Wellington College grounds for the competitions, and to tho ladies who dispensed afternoon tea on these occasions. The chairman urged those present to regard their special work for 'the benefit of the forces as a whole, rather' than for the special benefit of-their respective companies, though the. latter, of course, should.not be neglected. A vote of thanks was accorded to the chairman.and to Staff Sergeant-Major Browning for their past services' to the club.. It was decided that in future the affairs of tho institution should bo, ad-, ministered liv the non-commissioned officers. Sergeant Sawle, E.N.Z.A., to act as chairman,' Staff Sergeant-Major Browning as secretary, and the senior noncommissioned officers of all the) sections as tho committee." A smoko concert is to be held at an early date, at which the Officer Commanding the District's to be. allied to present.the prizes to the winners of tho various competitions.
